Housing Counselor

Piedmont Housing Alliance is seeking a full-time Housing Counselor to join our award-winning team.  Piedmont Housing Alliance is a successful and innovative non-profit organization with a mission to create housing opportunities and build community through education, lending, and development. Our housing counselors work one-on-one with clients to help them achieve their goals for housing stability and financial opportunity with money management, credit, home ownership, and foreclosure counseling. In addition, the housing counseling team offers financial education and homebuyer education classes.

The ideal candidate has an understanding of personal finance, rental process, mortgage financing and home purchase process. HUD certification, experience or training in housing counseling is preferred.  Bachelors’ degree or equivalent and minimum of two years of related experience, and/or similar combination of education and experience.  Must have strong computer skills. Must be able to successfully pass all required background checks and other pre-employment screening. Assistant Regional Community Manager

Piedmont Housing Alliance is seeking an Assistant Regional Community Manager to support the successful operation and mission focus of its portfolio of affordable housing communities. Piedmont Housing Alliance and Alliance Management provide high-quality affordable housing options for more than 350 households at nine communities throughout the greater Charlottesville area, and we are planning to grow. The Assistant Regional Community Manager will work with the Regional Community Manager to ensure effective staff support and resident service coordination at all communities. Primary responsibilities include: fostering smooth and consistent operation and positive resident experience by effectively supporting property managers when extra staffing is needed and by serving as property manager during absences/vacancies; and strategic management, leadership, and operational oversight of services and programs at all communities.

Qualifications include: Minimum five years of affordable housing property management experience, and strong working knowledge of LIHTC, HOME, and HUD regulations; experience in Virginia compliance (VHDA, DHCD) required; demonstrated experience with planning, design, and implementation of community programs and activities; strong computer skills; and high school graduate or educational equivalent. Must own or consistently have a vehicle available for use, with the flexibility to travel locally, and valid driver’s license required. Must be able to successfully pass all required background checks and other pre-employment screening. Compensation is based on experience and skills. Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor

Piedmont Housing Alliance is seeking a Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor to lead the team of Maintenance Technicians for Alliance Management and achieve high quality, cost-effective grounds, property, and apartment home maintenance. Primary responsibilities include coordinating the maintenance team to ensure the repair and maintenance of property facilities and apartment units, prompt and courteous responses to service requests, an adequate supply of market ready apartments to meet leasing demand, and property appearance which meets or exceeds standards.  The Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor also assists with hiring, training, and developing maintenance staff and vendors, which may include cleaners, painters and/or landscaping staff.

Qualifications include: Thorough knowledge of apartment and property repair and maintenance, including plumbing, electrical and lighting, HVAC, household appliance repair, caulking and sealing; three to five years of experience in multifamily apartment maintenance with progressive levels of responsibility required and experience supervising apartment maintenance strongly preferred; HVAC experience and EPA Type I certification required; CAMT preferred; and high school graduate or educational equivalent. Must own or consistently have a vehicle available for use, with the flexibility to travel locally, and valid driver’s license required. Must be able to successfully pass all required background checks and other pre-employment screening.
