Welcome Robert Gray to Our Board of Directors

Piedmont Housing Alliance is excited to welcome Robert Gray to our Board of Directors. Robert is a Charlottesville native, and has spent his career empowering people socially, politically, and economically. His work supports residents in Albemarle County, Charlottesville and the surrounding rural counties.

Robert is a co-founder and executive director of the Conscious Capitalist Foundation (CCF). Based in Charlottesville, the organization works to improve financial and social outcomes for youth from families experiencing low incomes, inadequate housing or a number of other factors. The foundation provides financial literacy training, business skill training, and mentoring to help high-risk youth build healthy lifestyles. The Charlottesville Business Innovation Council selected CCF as a finalist for the Social Good Award in 2020. The Social Good Award recognizes start-ups that are focused on the common good.

The city of Charlottesville has acknowledged Robert’s contributions to the community in other ways as well. The City Council awarded him a Proclamation in February 2019 for coordinating a back-to-school drive at Tonsler Park. In addition to coordinating the event, Robert’s clothing line Dreamin’ Diamonds donated over 250 backpacks full of school supplies for students.

Robert began his civic engagement work while he was an undergraduate at St. Augustine’s University in North Carolina, from which he earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in political science and public policy.

We are excited that Robert is bringing his passion for civic engagement and improving outcomes for youth to our communities, residents and clients.
