June Marks 1-Year Milestones

June marks two milestones for Piedmont Housing. It has now been a year since we began managing Friendship Court Apartments and a year since we rebranded.

Friendship Court Management a Year Later

Piedmont Housing’s community management team assumed management responsibilities for Friendship Court from Edgewood Management in June 2019.

Latasha Collins and Marcie Horree remain in the Friendship Court leasing office as community manager and assistant community manager, respectively.

There have been recent staff changes at the community center and within the maintenance team. Derick Powe recently joined the Friendship Court team as maintenance supervisor and Myrtle Houchens recently joined the team in the community center.

As with all of our communities, COVID-19 has deeply impacted Friendship Court. At what would normally be a busy, fun time for the community, we are still maintaining social distancing and all programming remains canceled. The pandemic has also caused a slight delay in the start of construction for Phase 1 of the redevelopment. Construction is now expected to start in the fall.

Moving the Piedmont Housing Brand Forward a Year Later

A year ago, we introduced our new brand. The feedback we’ve gotten has been positive and we continue to move forward with building our brand in the Charlottesville area and beyond.

Since we rebranded we’ve continued to work on our internal company culture, building awareness around all of the areas of affordable housing that we touch and advocacy surrounding racial equity, affordable housing programs and resident leadership at our communities.
