Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Donates $90,000 to Piedmont Housing Alliance

July 1, 2021 – We are excited to announce a new grant award of $90,000 from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Funding will be used to purchase a van to deliver food and resources to 11 housing communities and for capital improvements at Friendship Court, which will create a food pantry for residents and the surrounding community.

“We’re grateful for the time, energy, and thoughtfulness you put into your proposal and are thrilled to make this investment in your organization’s capacity to better serve visitors to your pantry for years to come,” wrote Tyler Herman, Director of Partner Engagement at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

The funds were awarded from Blue Ridge’s 2021 Agency Capacity Fund and allows Piedmont the opportunity to expand its programming to alleviate hunger even further.

“We value our partnership with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, which began with food distribution in February of 2019. This financial resource will further build capacity to alleviate hunger among our residents, the community, as well as increase services to residents in the rural properties of Lovingston, Scottsville, and Croze,” stated Charlene Green, Deputy Director of Piedmont Housing Alliance.
