Fair Housing Month-and a half

Here at Piedmont Housing, we can never get enough of a good thing, and this time of year, it is Fair Housing Month.  For the past 15 years, since the arrival of our Deputy Director and Fair Housing guru, Karen Reifenberger, Piedmont Housing has been active locally in the Fair Housing realm.

We have served as the local clearinghouse for claims of housing discrimination.  At times we are able to solve these issues by speaking directly to a landlord or broker.  Other times, we refer complaints to the state-level agency charged with enforcement.

We also take the lead in providing public education and outreach, and our next big event is this week, tomorrow in fact.  On May 12, we are sponsoring a free Fair Housing Training, along with the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission and
