Giving Youngsters a Good Start
Those of us who work at Piedmont Housing don’t need to read a bunch of studies to convince us that a stable, affordable home is at the core of what a child needs to thrive. But we’re always glad to hear that others who study outcomes for children come to the same conclusion.
A recent study in the Journal of Applied Research on Children looks at the ways we can increase housing stability for families of young children, especially those who are trying their best to raise their kids as part of the low-wage economy. What the study highlights is that our systems that support families must work together, because families that receive a full range of supports have greater stability.
And isn’t that what we want for the children in our (collective) care?
