Senior Angels Program a Success
To make the holiday season extra special for residents throughout Piedmont Housing’s Alliance Management portfolio, we implemented the 2018 Senior Angels program.
As part of the program, residents were given the opportunity to sign up to receive a gift. Examples of gifts that residents desired are clothes, slippers, candles and bath and body products – modest gifts that mean a lot to seniors on fixed incomes. We received an outpouring of support from locals in the community, Piedmont Housing Alliance staff and board members, family and friends, local organizations such as The Center (formerly known as The Senior Center), Social Services, the Albemarle County Office of Housing, and some of our vendors.
We were able to provide gifts to all 68 residents who signed up for the program, as well as over 50 gifts for people who were at the holiday parties at each community.
The residents were incredibly thankful and some so overfilled with joy they cried. Santa and one of his merry elves delivered to most of the communities during their Christmas luncheons.
This program was very successful and served nearly a third of residents in the Alliance portfolio of nine communities. Our goal is to make this program an annual tradition.
