Neighborhood Champion Award Will Allow Piedmont Housing to do More Good

As the inaugural awardee of the Bank of America Neighborhood Champions Program in Charlottesville, Piedmont Housing Alliance looks forward to how the $50,000 in grant support can provide it with the opportunity to do more good.

The grant also provides an opportunity for engagement in virtual leadership training delivered by experts in the nonprofit sector.

The grant will increase our capacity to offer more equitable structures of opportunity for the low-income individuals and families we serve. It will support workforce development efforts at Friendship Court. It will also help further our organization’s racial equity work in the larger Charlottesville community and surrounding areas.

The Neighborhood Champions program is invitation-only for nonprofits. Members of the community participated in a collaborative selection process to identify this year’s awardee.

The award was announced in a release on October 21 and presented during an awards ceremony held October 22 at the Paramount Theater, where other nonprofit organizations that received funding from Bank of America in 2019 were also recognized.
