Efficiency Merging with Affordability
Energy efficiency has become an integral element in the building of homes, including many of those built to meet the need for more homes that are affordable to low-wage workers. As the authors of The Measures of “Safe and Decent” Housing on the National Housing Institute’s Shelterforce site note, local energy codes have doubled their efficiency standards in just over six years. This arises in part from the fact that energy efficiency measures are creating rapid, substantial and measurable savings to owners. This is not news to Piedmont Housing, We have included energy efficiency in all of our projects since 2005. Making homes affordable, and safe and decent and healthy, is what we’re all about.
