First HUD Secretary a Trail Blazer

Piedmont02 17 15 Robert Weaver Housing Alliance is closely connected to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development or HUD.  We receive some of our funding through HUD, and our counseling staff are certified through the HUD Housing Counseling Program and its strict requirements.

The first Secretary of HUD, Robert Weaver, was appointed in 1966 by President Lyndon Johnson, and in addition to defining the reach of this important agency, Secretary Weaver was a trailblazer of another kind–the first African American to lead a cabinet level agency.  He was a remarkable man.  Read more.
