The Future of Virginia’s Housing Trust Fund

At a press conference last week, Virginia Del. Alonzo announced a bill he has introduced in the General Assembly to fund Virginia’s Housing Trust Fund.  The Trust Fund was de-funded last June, and funding also was cut for rapid rehousing of the homeless. View the news story here.

Now Virginia must decide whether there is a way to raise the revenue to restore those funds so that organizations like Habitat for Humanity, AHIP, JABA and Piedmont Housing Alliance can have the funds available to pursue projects that ensure decent, affordable housing for our neighbors.  If this is an issue that you feel strongly about, read more at the Virginia Housing Coalition’s website.
