High Rent Trickle Down

Trickle down economics strikes again.  As this report from CNBC notes,  the legendary high rents in cities like New York and San Francisco are trickling down to mid-sized and small cities.  Charlotte, NC and Portland, OR, long considered more affordable, are just two of the cities where high rents are making it hard for renters to make ends meet.  High rents have been an issue here in Charlottesville for more than a decade, and Piedmont Housing plans to address the issue by creating additional affordable rental properties. Home should be a refuge, not a burden.
