Home Ownership Parts I and II
In 2014, Piedmont Housing Alliance celebrated a big milestone–our 800th home owner. This means that more than 800 individuals and families have come through our doors with a dream of home ownership–and that dream has come true. What it also means is that almost all of those 800 families participated in our Home Ownership classes that we provide free of charge in partnership with the Virginia Housing Development Authority and CAAR (the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors.)
After a two month hiatus, we are starting those classes this month. On the second and third Wednesdays of each month, in two 3-hour sessions, prospective home owners gather at the CAAR offices to learn the basics of home buying. Am I ready to buy a house? What papers do I need to put together to get a loan? What happens at closing? Frankly, it’s great information for anyone who is thinking about buying a house. But if you’re hoping to access low-cost down payment funds through Piedmont Housing, the classes make you eligible to apply.
One of our recent attendees offered this endorsement of the class: “All speakers were energetic and very knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and I feel more confident in my home buying process. I would highly recommend [this] class for everyone.” If you’d like to attend, please call 434-817-2436 x100 to sign up for the classes that fit best into your schedule. We offer them every month through November. See the schedule here.
