Is Housing Health Care?

The shelter that it provides is the first health benefit of housing, but there is a lot more involved in the links between housing and health.

You can read about it in this interview with Rebecca Morley, who now heads the Health Impact Project, a collaboration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Pew Charitable Trusts.

The project is a national initiative designed to promote the use of health impact assessments (HIAs) as a decision-making tool for policymakers.  Ms. Morley notes that, among other things, HIAs can play an important role in better decision making when it comes to the design of affordable housing.
