Senior Housing Stigmas

Reuters is reporting that research in senior housing facilities with graduated care levels shows that seniors see a stigma in moving to a more intensive care setting.  Areas with the highest level of care have received monikers like “The Twilight Zone,” “The Dark Side,” or “Death Valley.

Piedmont Housing Alliance provides housing for more than 100 local seniors in our affordable apartments in Crozet, Scottsville and Charlottesville.  It is not fancy, just one level of independent living–and that suits many of our tenants just fine.
