Tiny Houses Meet Needs, Budgets

When I purc02 17 15 Tiny househased my 860 sq. ft. home last year, I entered the 1%–obviously not THAT 1%, but instead the 1% of the population that purchases homes of less than 1,000 square feet.  I called it downsizing, but for many young people with small salaries and college debt to pay, small, even tiny, houses are the only affordable alternative.  It appears that purveyors of tiny homes are running into obstacles, including zoning restrictions.  Matt Kelly of Heartlander Magazine shares his research on this trend.
