Home Buying and Home Repair Assistance Funding Now Available in the Orangedale/Prospect Neighborhood

Piedmont Housing Alliance has funding for homebuyers to make home ownership affordable. In addition, Piedmont Housing Alliance offers area-specific home purchase funds. In partnership with the City of Charlottesville, Piedmont Housing can provide down payment assistance and home repair funds to eligible homebuyers who purchase properties in the Orangedale/Prospect neighborhood (an area also eligible for CHRP low-interest mortgage funding).  Buyers can receive up to 20% down payment/closing cost assistance as well as up to $12,500 for necessary repairs (in cooperation with AHIP).

These funds add to Piedmont Housing’s menu of down payment assistance available throughout the region.

“We are very excited to be able to share information about this opportunity with the residents of the Orangedale and Prospect neighborhoods,” said Karen Reifenberger, Piedmont Housing’s Chief Operating Officer.  “Piedmont Housing has a long history of helping families achieve home ownership, and have helped more than 835 families achieve their dreams of home ownership with our unique combination of housing counseling and down payment assistance.  We look forward to working with people in the Orangedale and Prospect neighborhoods who are interested in owning their first home. We also are pleased to continue our partnership with AHIP, which will be providing home repair services for home buyers.”

The Orangedale/Prospect neighborhood includes Cherry Avenue between 5th and 9th Streets down to Rock Creek Road, including Elm, Pine, Prospect, 7 ½ , Orangedale and Bailey Streets.
