Author Aisha Rice to visit Friendship Court Apartments
CHARLOTTESVILLE (May 13, 2019) – Piedmont Housing Alliance is excited to announce that author Aisha Rice will visit the Friendship Court Apartments to discuss her book, My Kinky, Coily Hair, on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Rice will speak to members of the Girls Mentoring Program at Friendship Court, as well as youth from City of Promise that will join us for the event. Aisha Rice is a children’s book author out of the DC/Maryland/Virginia by way of California. She graduated from George Mason University and then continued with her education to obtain her Paralegal Certificate from Georgetown University. With an undergraduate degree in Journalism, she has always enjoyed writing. Coming from a family of three girls and Aisha smack in the middle, hair trials and tribulations were a constant in her household. Her debut book, “My Kinky Coily Hair,” focuses on a young girl named Naomi who battles with individuality and acceptance of self.

Please join us for this event from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. on May 14 in the Friendship Court Community Center. This event will be followed up by the launch of a summer reading challenge at Friendship Court.
