Congratulations to our Property Maintenance Team As They Obtain a New Certification
Congratulations to Derick Powe, Landus Banks, and Travis Hudson, maintenance technicians with Piedmont Housing Alliance’s Alliance Management, who recently earned their Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT) by completing coursework, hands-on training, and passing a comprehensive exam. This certificate demonstrates their skilled professionalism and Piedmont Housing Alliance’s dedication to excellence in serving 358 resident households at nine affordable housing communities.
CAMT, the only apartment maintenance program to be nationally accredited by the American National Standards Institute, includes the following modules:
· Processing work orders efficiently and to residents’ satisfaction
· Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, appliance, construction, and lock and key services and repairs
· Painting services
· Customer service
· Following company policy and procedures
· Minimizing personal and property damage
· Maintenance safety
· Fair housing regulatory compliance
· Environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance

Derick Powe is a maintenance technician who has been with Piedmont Housing Alliance / Alliance Management for two years. Derick worked at a commercial architectural firm as a project superintendent and project manager for 12 years, then owned his own construction framing company while living in Florida until he moved to Charlottesville.
Landus Banks started working as a porter and was promoted to maintenance technician whose prior experience includes Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge dining services, McDonald’s management, and UVa security.
Travis Hudson worked as a maintenance technician for a company managing 13 rental homes before coming to work for Piedmont Housing Alliance / Alliance Management in February of last year. As a maintenance technician, he has experience working in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and drywall.
